3 Short Films fill in The Gaps between Rise, and Dawn of The Planet of the Apes

Before the Dawn of The Apes

Twentieth Century Fox’s Dawn of the Planet of The Apes hits theaters July 11th. In an interesting marketing strategy, Fox has teamed up with Vice Medias Motherboard to release 3 short films that document the events the have transpired between the new “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” film and 2011’s “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”.

In the story line of the franchise, 10 has transpired between the 2 features. The short films attempt to fill in the gaps in three installments.

Installment one “Quarantine: Year 1”

This first short film in the series tells the tell of a father and daughter and what they have to go through after the mother becomes infected.

Installment 2 “All Fall Down: Year 5”

This installment brings us 5 years into the Simian Flu outbreak. Only 1 in 10 survive, and society is crumbling. The story reloves around two young armed women who scavenge and barter for their existence all while under threat of the elusive apes in the night.

Installment 3 “The Gun: Year 10”

This chapter is called Year 10, but in reality, it takes us on a trip from the end of “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” up to the time period of “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” all through the  tales of the people who end up with one particular shotgun.

Dawn-of-the-Planet-of-the-Apes1 (1)If you are a fan of the franchise, these short films are a fun way to prepare for the new film, and a neat marketing experiment from Fox that I hope we see more of.
